US Stock markets experienced a mixed day just a few short trading sessions ahead of the key Fed rate call, markets are pricing in a 50-basis point cut more strongly again, with expectation of the bigger cut now sitting at 59%. The Dow hit a record high, whilst tech stocks weighed on the Nasdaq.
The dollar took another step lower, with the USDJPY recording its lowest level in a year and treasury yields slipped again with the 2-year hitting a level not seen since September 2022.
Oil prices rallied again and gold hit yet another record level before settling slightly lower at the end of the session.
The event calendar kicks in today with sentiment numbers out in Europe and key tier 1 data out of both Canada and the US.
